A couple renewing their vows

A vow renewal is not a repeat of a wedding. It is a different ceremony for a different stage of life: a chance to say what the original vows could not yet have known, to honour what you have weathered, and to make new promises with the benefit of everything that has happened since the first ones. Some couples come for an anniversary; others come because something has shifted in the marriage, children, illness, loss, growth, and they want to mark it out loud.

What it includes

  • A first conversation to hear how long you have been together, what has happened along the way, and what you want this ceremony to do that the first one could not.
  • A second consultation to read the draft together.
  • All the writing: opening welcome, a re-telling of the story (often with children or grandchildren present this time), new vows, an optional re-blessing of the rings or addition of new ones, and any symbolic element that feels right.
  • The ceremony itself, led on the day.

Where vow renewals happen

Often at home, in a garden, or at a venue that has meaning, sometimes the same place as the original wedding, sometimes deliberately not.

From the moment we met Debbie she put us at ease. The vows were perfect and the sand ceremony lovely, she helped make our day perfect.
